Pediatric Day Nursing and Treatment Center (PPEC)

Pediatric Day Nursing and Treatment Center (PPEC)

Caring Hearts offers day treatment centers for medically complex children. Our centers take a holistic approach to the healthcare of your special child; we offer skilled nursing and physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapies in an environment that focuses on the developmental and social needs of children who require short-term, long-term, or intermittent treatment.

PPEC is an acronym for Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care — a doctor’s prescription required for admission to our programs. Children are eligible from birth to age twenty while they require therapeutic or skilled nursing care. Regardless of the length of a child’s stay with us, we teach all parents long-term strategies for caring for medically complex children. We also offer after-school, Saturday, holiday and summer break programs for children enrolled in school.Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5

The nursing staff at Caring Hearts is the pulse of our organization, so we only hire the best! At a minimum, our nurses must have prior pediatric experience and must pass thorough background and reference checks. But beyond that, we only employ knowledgeable and compassionate individuals who are committed to improving the overall health of our Caring Hearts kids. Additionally, our staff participates in ongoing education to stay informed of advances in medical technology.Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5

Our team recognizes that your child is more than a patient – s/he’s a child! We strive to optimize each child’s potential and provide him or her with the highest quality of life possible through a comprehensive developmental plan. Teachers from the school system develop and teach specific enrichment programs for our children who are three-years-old and up. We also have child development associates on staff who design and implement structured schedules of activities throughout each day. Check out the “A Day in the Life of a Caring Hearts Kid” link for a more detailed description of our curriculum.Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5

Every center offers transportation services for its children. Each bus has a staff member apart from the driver who is dedicated to ensuring every child has a safe and happy ride. Of course parents are always welcome to drop their kids off in the morning and pick them back up in the afternoon if they prefer.Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5

Family Support

Special needs in children create special needs for families. At Caring Hearts we understand those needs and offer another branch to your family support system. We have periodic family dinners where all of our Caring Hearts kids’ families are invited for a catered dinner and conversation. At these dinners you’ll have a chance to talk with your child’s caretakers and meet other parents who share similar experiences.

Education

Our knowledgeable nurses work with parents to help teach them how to perform nursing skills at home in order to better care for their special children. Improving the quality of life for the entire family is what drives Caring Hearts as an organization.

Coordinated Treatment

Caring Hearts maintains open and constant communication with each child’s pediatrician, specialist(s) and social worker to ensure continuity of care that allows for early detection of problems.

"The facility is very clean. The staff at PPEC are very helpful, organized and wonderful people. My daughter has now been attending a year and a half and has done, with the help of the staff, things the doctors didn't expect her to do by her age. She has also learned to be a sociable child. Our family is very thankful for all the help this program has given our child and us."
    - Mrs. Rodriguez, Naples
